A gap year abroad?

First of all, we must understand what a "Gap Year" is.

A gap year is not a vacation or a year off. A gap year is a year used to prepare for and achieve personal and professional goals.

This includes preparation in Spanish in case you're planning to study in Spain, but it's not the only thing.

There are also programs that allow you to go to classes and learn about different courses of study so that you can then choose the studies that really suit you.

This type of program issuitable for students who are not yet 100% sure of their academic direction. And for the parents, you will be reassured to know that they are in a classic school setting, as opposed to a "Gap Year" as explained above.

Good news: doing a gap year is now much easier with Parcoursup. Since 2018, the Gap Year is now one of the possible choices on Parcoursup. The gap year application is done directly on the Parcoursup platform.

It's very simple. When you make your wishes, you just have to choose the option "Request a gap year".

Please note that in order to validate your choice of gap year, you must be registered in an institution for your return to France. Even if you can change your choices when you return to France, you must still be registered in a French higher education institution.

The request for a gap year is examined by an institutional commission that evaluates the quality and coherence of the project. If it is granted, an agreement is signed between the student and the institution. This agreement :

• guarantees reinstatement or re-enrolment in the program at the end of the gap year, without having to go through Parcoursup again (on the other hand, if at the end of your gap year, you wish to change your course of study and enter a first year in a different program than the one in which you were enrolled, you will have to go through Parcoursup again)

3- Learn to open up to others to enrich yourself,

4- Test a trade before continuing your studies

5- Enrich your CV

6- Take time to reflect on your project

As you can see, much more than a sabbatical year, a GAP-YEAR allows you to create beautiful international friendships, to get to know each other better, to rediscover yourself, to be immersed in a cultural, linguistic and intellectual experience.

The volunteer program is essentially an experiential learning program that will not only benefit the lives of others less fortunate than you, but will also develop your own personal skills and opportunities, as well as your Spanish language skills!

Foundation Course in Global design at IED Madrid and Barcelona:

A program for students who want to study design but have not yet decided on their preferences. This program allows students to try out all the specializations in product design, interior design, graphic design and fashion; and then choose the path that best suits the student.

Summer workshops at Utad University: Utad University organizes workshops during the month of July for students interested in the field of digital animation.

These workshops last one week from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, which allows students to take Spanish classes or enjoy Madrid in the afternoon.
