Preparing well in Spanish is essential

FEEDUC

If a few years ago it was possible to study in Spain with a poor level of Spanish, this is no longer the case today.

All the universities are careful to ensure that French students have a correct level of Spanish because, as more and more French students are studying in Spain, they will no longer progress through contact with the Spanish as was the case for the first students who chose to study in Spain a few years ago.

The feedback we have, for example, from universities on students who take a dental course in English or a physiotherapy course in French, Italian or English is catastrophic:

  • they do not make the necessary efforts
  • they live among themselves
  • some are in theirthird year at a level close to that with which they arrived, i.e. close to zero.

Even worse, some students cannot continue their studies because they do not have the level to treat patients in internships, others have been dismissed from clinics because their level of Spanish was likely to endanger patient safety.

Some universities, such as theUEM, logically have students sign documents upon registration stating that they are aware of the consequences of not having the required level of Spanish to enter the second year of physiotherapy or thethird year of dental school.

Students are no longer advancing in their studies or are advancing at a much slower pace, thus increasing the length of their studies and the costs that their families must assume.

Those who had imagined that the commercial approach of opening courses in English, French or Italian was a gift from the universities have come to reality. For some, the reality is bitter and the efforts that were not made beforehand are costing them a lot of time and money that they have to invest now when they already have a lot to do in their studies. They also risk exceeding or greatly exceeding the budget they had planned to finance their studies.

Don't repeat their mistakes: prepare in Spanish!

When is it recommended to take Spanish courses ?

The earlier you start preparing, the better your level will be. Therefore, it is important to be well aware of the importance of Spanish preparation so that you are ready as early as the first quarter of 2018, when the admissions process for universities in Spain opens. Most universities will check your level from that point on and will, with equivalent academic records, only keep the best students in Spanish. Some will simply require a minimum level (B1 or B2 in most cases) to allow you to enter their admissions process.

Which method is the most effective for prepare in Spanish ?

The most effective method is the one that is most adapted to your schedule and your environment: group courses, one-to-one, in France, at a distance, in Spain, there are many solutions.

We have been working for several years to raise awareness among Spanish course professionals, both in France and in Spain, of the specific needs of a future student in Spain. You will find the contacts to access the courses resulting from this collaborative work on the part of our site entitled I AM PREPARING MY PROJECT in the section LEVELING UP IN SPANISH
