Workshops back to France for physiotherapy students in Spain!

FEEDUC

Students studying physiotherapy with FEEDUC in Spain can take advantage of information meetings at the start of their 3rd year.

In 4th year, they can also count on workshops organized by FEEDUC.

Every year we organize

  • in October: a meeting for students in their 3rd year of physiotherapy.
  • in May: workshops for 4th year physio students.

The needs are not the same:

  • In the third year, students need to have information on the documents to be provided to the licensing commissions since they will have to ensure, during their internships in particular, that the documents are indeed given to them and comply with French administrative expectations.
  • In the 4th year they must already be projecting towards their professional life.

On the FEEDUC website, you'll find a section entitled " Working in France with a Spanish diploma ".
In chronological order, from the most recent to the oldest, you'll find a summary of each meeting.
This document summarizes the most important information given during the meeting.
The list of documents to be provided is "à maxima".

  • All licensing boards, which are organized at the regional level, may not ask you for all the documents, however if you have all the documents you should be able to respond to all requests.
  • The prerequisites and documents to be provided may change from one year to the next, so always check with the DRJSCS where you are going to submit your application for authorization to practice before sending them your application.

A distinction must be made between extracurricular (optional) and curricular (mandatory) internships.

  • For the extracurricular coursesthe question does not really arise:
    • you can do as much as you want, wherever you want, since their primary objective is to gain even more experience than what is offered to you as part of your studies and not to complete the mandatory hours provided for in the study plan.
    • There is no assurance that they will be taken into account by licensing boards, but as a professional they can only provide you with additional skills and knowledge.
    • All universities have internship agreements available to you. Just remember to keep official records (agreements, detailed reports) of these electives if you want to include them on your applications and CVs.
  • For the curricular courses in France,
    • some universities accept them, others do not.
    • Some French students who studied physiotherapy in Spain and did their curricular training in France have been sanctioned on this point by the authorization commissions.
    • Some commissions have rejected all their internship hours spent in France, on the pretext (real and indisputable) that these internship hours are validated by the university without any control on its part, neither on the place of reception, nor on the presence of the trainee, nor on the skills transmitted, etc...
    • The universities that do not offer curricular internship hours in France are those whose students have been affected by these measures and have had to repeat many hours of compensatory internships before being allowed to practice in France.
    • Universities that accept curricular (compulsory) internships in France are either those that for the moment have not yet had any students concerned by rejections of internship hours carried out in France by licensing commissions, or see the financial benefit that this generates for them (no need to look for internships for students, no need to pay for internship locations in Spain, no need to visit the interns and follow up with the tutors, etc.), or both parameters combined
    • As far as FEEDUC is concerned, we do not recommend curricular (compulsory) internships in France. Quite simply, we don't want to run the risk of having our students rejected by the licensing commissions. The authorities representing physiotherapy in France have always made it clear to us that they take a very dim view of the practice of internships in France, without any control or monitoring by the Spanish universities that validate them. Each student, the future professional physiotherapist, then decides for himself, according to the possibilities offered by his university, the course he wants to follow and the risks he wishes to take in this respect.
