Mobility between France and Spain during Covid-19

Many French students who study in Spain wonder how their end-of-year celebrations will go.

Let's take a look at the COVID-19 restrictions in Spain.

Are you studying dentistry in Spain at the UEV?

You started studying physical therapy in Spain at the UEM?

Are you finishing your veterinary studies in Spain at UAX?

Are you studying business at ESIC in Madrid or ESADE in Barcelona?

You probably have one thing in common for these next few weeks, and that is to wonder how you will be able to return to Spain after the holidays that you will spend in France with your families.

Please note that this article was written on Wednesday, December 15 and the information is subject to change depending on new measures taken by the regions.

 

HOW TO RETURN TO FRANCE ?

From Madrid: All those who wish to go to France can do so without any problem if it is before December 23. From December 23 to January 6, the exit from the Community of Madrid must be justified. With a French identity card, this can often be sufficient.

From Valencia: The Valencia region is closed except on December 23, 24, 25, 31 and January1 when travel to other regions is allowed if justified. With a French identity card, this can often be sufficient.

From the Canary Islands: The Canary Islands region is closed for people arriving in the island but not for leaving. So there is no problem to go to France.

 

WHAT ARE THE RESTRICTIONS IF THE STUDENT STAYS IN SPAIN?

Madrid: THE MEASURES CHANGE REGULARLY, CONSULT THE OFFICIAL LINK OF THE MADRID COMMUNITY.

  • Meetings are limited to 6 people and 2 groups of guests on December 24, 25, 31 and January1, 2021.
  • Christmas and New Year's Eve: Curfew between 1:30 am and 6 am.
  • No public celebrations for the 12 strokes of midnight on December 31
  • Outside of these dates, meetings are limited to 6 people and the curfew is from midnight to 6am.
  • Shops close at 10pm
  • Limiting the number of people in bars, restaurants, terraces, cinemas, museums...
  • Closing at midnight of all bars, restaurants, etc...

Valencia: THE MEASURES CHANGE REGULARLY, CONSULT THE OFFICIAL LINK OF THE GENERALITAT VALENCIANA

  • Meetings are limited to 6 people and 2 groups of guests on December 24, 25, 31 and January1, 2021.
  • Outside of these dates, meetings are limited to 6 people.
  • Restaurants and bars will close at 1am from December 24th to 26th and on December 31st and1st
  • The curfew will be from 1:30 am to 6 am from December 24 to 26 and on December 31 and December1

Canary Islands : THE MEASURES CHANGING REGULARLY, CONSULT THEOFFICIAL LINK OF THE REGION OF THE CANARIES

  • Meetings are limited to 6 people and 2 groups of guests on December 24, 25, 31 and January1, 2021.
  • Outside of these dates, meetings are limited to 6 people.
  • Restaurants and bars will close at 1am from December 24th to 26th and on December 31st and1st
  • The curfew will be from 1:30 am to 6 am from December 24 to 26 and on December 31 and December1
  • Outside of these dates, the curfew is from 10pm to 6am.

 

HOW TO RETURN TO YOUR STUDIES IN SPAIN AFTER HAVING ENJOYED YOUR FAMILY IN FRANCE?

  • If you are traveling by plane or boat, a negative PCR test less than 72 hours old is required for all travelers. The test can be written in French, English or German. Any other language must be translated into Spanish by an official agency.
  • This test is not required for students coming by land (car).
  • Be sure to prove your residence in Spain with your official documents: resident card (NIE), padrón, rental contract, matrícula of the university...

Madrid:

  • The region is closed from December 23rd to January 6th. If you are checked you will have to justify your travel with your official documents.

Valencia:

  • The region is closed from December 10 to January 15, 2021 (except on December 23, 24, 25, 31 and January1 ). If you are checked you must be able to justify your travel with your official documents.

Canarias :

  • The region is closed but you can avoid the restriction on 3 conditions: do the mandatory PCR test, fill in a declaration on your honor and submit to a visual examination by the health staff and a temperature test. However, you should be able to justify your travel with your official documents.

 

Travel between France and Spain can be done and everything will go smoothly with a little organization and anticipation.
