More and more students are contacting us to enroll in the hearing aid program in Spain.

The need for professionals and the scarcity of the training offer in France make it one of the most requested courses to study in Spain.

What do I need to know about studying hearing aid in Spain?

Study in Spain in a hearing aid school

  • Only 8 schools offer this training in France.
  • The need for trained professionals is enormous and the demand curve will only increase in the coming years.
  • The causes for this growing demand are mainly, the aging population and the noise levels to which our ears have been exposed for the last few decades.
  • It can therefore be extremely interesting for a French student, motivated by a profession that is both technical and commercial, to follow training in this field. It is the assurance of not being unemployed and of obtaining an interesting salary, while practicing an exciting and useful profession.

There are 2 study modalities:

  • The face-to-face modality is open to all.
  • The distance mode is reserved for practicing professionals who want to validate their experience in the field by obtaining an official diploma. This distance mode requires online work + a presence on site at least 1 weekend per month.
  • The duration of audioprosthesis studies is 2 years in Spain, compared to 3 years in France. Therefore, expect the French health authorities to ask you to complete compensatory measures, in the form of additional training weeks, before authorizing you to practice in France with the diploma you obtained in Spain.
  • The feedback we have received from students who have graduated as audioprosthesists in Spain in recent years, indicated that these measures can range from a few weeks to a full year (reducing the number of years of study to 3 as in France).

What criteria should I use to choose a hearing school in Spain?

Choose a school that is accredited by the Spanish government.
Only then will you be able to have your diploma recognized in France and be authorized to practice there.

  • The audioprosthesis course in Spain is an official course.
  • It is attached to the FPS (Formation Professionnelle Supérieure), and authorizations are given at the regional level.
  • Any approved training center must be able to provide you with its authorizations.

Beware!

  • Some institutions may issue "titulos propios",
  • these diplomas, unofficial, will not be approved in France.
  • This is often the case when the training offered combines audioprosthesis and optics.
  • These studies can be offered at public or private universities.
  • You will not always be welcome in the public system (the Spanish don't always look favorably on financing the studies of foreign students from their country's budget...).
  • It is easier to enter the private system but you will have to finance your 2 years of study yourself.

The choice of the region where the university is located is also important because it can condition: :

  • your travels,
  • the number of languages to be mastered (Spanish? Catalan? Basque? Galician?)
  • your study and living budget in Spain.

It can be convenient and pleasant to live in the center of a capital city.
But it often costs more.

Here's what FEEDUC thinks you should know about what to look for if you're considering studying to become a hearing aid audiologist in Spain.

FEEDUC has chosen to offer you 2 approved establishments.

These universities are located in Madrid and its surroundings.

One of them offers face-to-face courses(Universidad Europea de Madrid) and MOPE offers training in a semi-face model. The latter is reserved for optical professionals or people who already have experience in this field.
