STUDY IN SPAIN IN A NON-HEALTHCARE FIELD(https://www.feeduc.eu/formations/).

Once you've passed your A-levels, studying in Spain can be a stimulating way to embark on a course of higher education. FEEDUC gives you 5 reasons and tips to try it!

1 - Studying in Spain after high school is easy!

Spain is a country of the European Union, which means that a French person can live, work and study there, even though it is not his/her country of birth. Studying in Spain after the baccalaureate is therefore easier than studying outside the European Union.

The university system is based on the LMD (Licence-Master-Doctorat). After 4 to 6 years, you will obtain the Grado or license. The length of your studies will depend on the course of study. Then, after your Grado, the Master's degree which is obtained in 1 or 2 years, depending on the specialty of your choice. The doctorate, which takes 3 or 4 years, can be done after your master's degree.

At the end of your course, you will obtain an official Spanish state diploma that is recognized in Europe, and therefore also in France (beware of the "títulos propios" that some private universities may issue, in which case it is not a state diploma, but a diploma issued by the university and therefore not official).

In order to study in Spain, it is essential to have obtained your baccalaureate. However, your bachelor's degree is not automatically recognized in Spain, so you must apply to the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED) to obtain the Credencial de acceso, the equivalent of a bachelor's degree in Spain.

One of the main advantages, apart from the world-renowned quality of teaching at Spanish universities, is that universities can be easier to get into because you don't have to take an entrance exam like in France. The criteria are specific to each university and admission is often based on the level of Spanish language skills, the application and sometimes on test results specific to each program.

2 - Study in Spain: improve your language skills while adding value to your CV

Many countries in the world speak Spanish. It is the third most spoken language in the world and the second most used language in international exchanges.

Speaking Spanish will open professional doors for you in many countries around the world, in Latin America, and even in the United States (Spanish is the second most spoken language in the country, especially in the states bordering Mexico).

The Spanish-speaking world is vast, and the first step to entering it may be to study in Spain.

To study in Spain, and even if it seems obvious, it is necessary to speak Spanish, unless you follow a 100% English-speaking program (in which case it is preferable to have some knowledge of Spanish in order to have a pleasant daily life in Spain).

It is recommended that you have your language level certified by recognized organizations such as the Instituto Cervantes, in order to assure the host university of your ability to be autonomous in Spanish, both in daily life and in understanding the courses. Levels B1 (independent) and B2 (experienced independent) are "must-haves" to understand and follow the rhythm of the courses and to study in Spain.

If you decide to study English in certain fields such as international relations, tourism, business, architecture, etc., a B2 level of English will generally be required. As with Spanish, providing official certification can be a plus.

Even when you return to France, the fact that you have completed a course of study abroad can be an asset for entering the job market. Being autonomous in a foreign country is a quality that can be transposed to the business world. Studying in Spain is one of the ways to ensure a better professional integration, even in France.

3 - Studying in Spain: Universities recognized worldwide

Many French students look at value for money when considering business school.

Spain offers universities specialized in business studies in Spain, based on the model of business schools as they exist in France.

You will also find bachelor's degrees in Business Administration (BBA) in general, public and private universities.

Public universities are not really interesting because the relationship and exchanges they offer with companies are rare and often insufficient.

Private generalist universities are more relevant for these courses, however it is really the specialized schools that present a very good level of training and deserve the interest of a French student.

It is good for you to know that if you join a school in Spain, you will gain 2 years of study since it is not necessary to go through the 2 years of preparatory school to enter. With the same length of study, you will have completed your basic training (4 years in Spain) and obtained a Master's degree.

Spain is excellently placed in the global business school market and offers excellent value for money.

Indeed, with courses of excellence in universities that welcome thousands of foreign students each year, Spanish institutions offer internationally recognized disciplines and courses.

It is thanks to this excellence and diversity that Spain has universities that are recognized worldwide.

In the fields of business, management and finance, the Escuela Superior deAdministración y Gestión de Empresa (ESADE) in Barcelona, for example, is internationally recognized. For several years now, according to the Financial Times ranking, ESADE has been in the top 15 of the best business schools in Europe. The bachelor's degrees it offers are among the most sought-after in Europe and in the world.

However,ESADE is not the only prestigious business school in Spain, other business schools are also highly rated in the fields of business and marketing such as ESIC for example.ESIC Business & Marketing School is a private business school based in Madrid (with other campuses in other Spanish cities, such as Valencia). It is one of the top 3 business schools in Spain and is a reference school in the fields of advertising, communication and marketing.

There are also great foreign schools in Spain such as Schiller International University, which is the first American university in Spain. Created in 1964 in the USA, it is located in the heart of Madrid in an exclusive neighborhood. It is a university with 4 campuses in 4 different countries: Madrid, Tampa, Heidelberg and Paris. The particularity of this university, given that it is present in 4 different countries, is the fact that it allows the student to do each year of study in a different campus if he or she wishes. This rotation between campuses makes Schiller University an international university in which students will have the advantage of building a large network during their studies, which will make it easier for them to open doors in the professional world. It also allows them to experience total immersion in another country and to learn about other cultures around the world.

On the other hand, if you are interested in entrepreneurship, how about starting your own business while training?

This is what theFlorida University of Valencia offers with the LEINN training in partnership with the University of Mondragon.

LEINN is an official and international university degree in Entrepreneurial Leadership and Innovation, certified and recognized by the Spanish Ministry of Education. It lasts 4 years.

LEINN training breaks the barriers between the academic world and the real world. During the 4 years of study, you will have to develop real projects, manage real clients and, of course, charge real money to finance your project. This is THE training for real entrepreneurs.

4 - Studying in Spain: certifications for international practice

More and more French students and their families have understood the interest of Spain to study architecture.

Indeed, the access for the students is done, without competition!

Entrance exams are required, but foreign students are immediately considered to be highly motivated, since they are ready to go abroad to get the training and job of their dreams!

In this field, NAAB (National Architectural Accrediting Board) accredited licenses can be offered by Spanish universities and schools of architecture. These accreditations are recognized by American companies and MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology).

On the other hand, engineering schools are not to be outdone, since they represent a significant share of foreign students in the Spanish educational system. Spanish engineering companies (especially in the field of renewable energy, solar and wind power) are also recognized worldwide for their know-how. Universities located in Madrid, Valencia and the rest of Spain allow thousands of students each year to participate in innovation and in the country's major infrastructure projects.

5 - Studying in Spain: integrating reference courses

Certain fields such as journalism or tourism also recruit many foreign profiles. Spain is one of the world leaders in tourism, welcoming more than 80 million tourists each year, including many French tourists. Universities provide training in the tourism industry through a four-year degree program. These courses are offered by theEuropean University of the Canary Islands (UEC) and the European University of Valencia (UEV), as well as theUniversity of Nebrija, in Madrid.

If you want to work in this field, you should have a good command of Spanish and be interested in languages in general, as contact with foreign clients is obviously essential.

Similarly, studying in Spain in the field of journalism, for example, can be an excellent way to become a professional. A very good level of language will be necessary. Universities such as UFV, La Nebrija or Universidad Europea de Madrid (UEM) offer training in media professions and are among the most reputable study paths in Spain in terms of teaching and employability.

You must have a very high level of Spanish language proficiency and you must also be familiar with Spain.

FEEDUC's advice + for your studies in Spain

Training courses not recommended in Spain

Law, except as a complement to business training, is a course of study that we do not recommend in Spain, neither as a post-baccalaureate nor as a Master's degree.

In post-bac you start from the basics of civil law which varies from one country to another and the contents are therefore not identical.

To enter the Master's program, you must retake all, or almost all, of the subjects obtained in the Bachelor's program in France because the knowledge is not the same and ECTS validations are not accepted.

Therefore, unless your life project is in Spain or you want to obtain a double degree in business and law so that your legal knowledge helps your business career, we do not recommend expatriation to Spain.

Teaching is another training in Spain that will not allow you to prepare for the competitive examination to be a teacher in France.

This will also be the case for the equivalent of STAPS in France, you will have to take a competitive exam to become a sports educator or gym teacher in France. The preparation for this exam is done in France.

If you have studied STAPS in France, you can, on the other hand, consider continuing your studies in Physiotherapy in Spain, sometimes with recognition ofECTS for certain subjects.

Be careful with the training area called "social" in Spain, it is not the social training area as it is known in France.

In Spain, social sciences refer to training in economics, law, business administration, international relations, history, geography, sociology...

Social training as we know it in France is a sector of activity that we do not advise you to do abroad because social policies vary greatly from one country to another.
