The country of FC Barcelona and Real Madrid is also one of the world leaders in the tourism sector and therefore an excellent idea for your tourism studies.

Canary Islands, Barcelona, Andalusia, Ibiza, Santiago de Compostela, Madrid, Seville... these are tourist destinations that make many dream but Spain has many other hidden treasures....

In fact, 83.7 million visitors decided to visit Spain in 2019 and despite the global pandemic COVID-19, in the first nine months of 2021, Spain received 19.7 million tourists, an increase of 17.2% compared to the same period of 2020, according to the INE.

In all, tourism is a sector that represents 297,122 million euros in 2020, or 12.5% of Spain's GDP.

Translated in terms of jobs, 2.6 million jobs were created in 2019 in the tourism sector.

If there is a buoyant sector in Spain, it is tourism.

For many years, Spanish universities have been offering quality training to meet the high demand and to face the fierce competition in a sector that is experiencing its best years.

In France, tourism studies are limited to a two-year BTS or a one-year master's degree.

On the contrary, in Spain, tourism studies are much more in-depth with official bachelor's degrees at the university that last 4 years. The master's degree is then used to specialize in a specific field of tourism: hotel business, event management, etc...

These courses mix the basics of management and accounting, geography of tourism, sociology, structure of the tourism market, law, marketing, organization and processes in the tourism sector and then many subjects that will train you in ecotourism, wine tourism, creation of travel agency, etc...

The study plans of the tourism courses are complete and train real professionals capable of founding their own tourism structures or of incorporating in the sector very quickly.

Where to study tourism in Spain?

FEEDUC offers you 3 different universities in 3 different regions of Spain:

At UEC and Nebrija, studies are in Spanish. At UEV, studies are conducted in English.

Each university offers quality tourism courses with different characteristics that are adapted to their geographical location.

The private Spanish universities we have selected will not only give you a quality education but will also lead you to your first job... or your first business creation. You will benefit from quality internships with the largest companies in the sector. And this will make your professional integration easier.

Tourism is not a sector of regulated professions. So if the question is to know if a young graduate speaking at least 3 languages (French, Spanish and English), having a more complete education than in France (4 years instead of 2), having done internships in foreign companies and having a rich and different multicultural experience, can find a job in France, the answer is obviously YES.

And in terms of validity of the diploma, it is obviously recognized and valid in France as well as in the rest of the European Union.

There are several advantages to studying tourism at a university in Spain:

  • You will obtain a university degree of 240 ECTS (4 years of study)
  • You become bilingual in Spanish or trilingual with English
  • You will learn a new culture allowing you to increase your skills in a specific market
  • You get professional experience abroad
  • Tourism studies in Spain are a passport to Spanish-speaking destinations in South America and some North American states.

In short, your CV is much more complete than that of a person with a BTS in France.

For some, the financial part can be a barrier to study abroad. But there are quality public universities. Even if the practical part is less developed, the proposed courses are still interesting and can allow you to develop the atypical profile mentioned above.

In Spain, public universities are selective and have what is called a " nota de corte " which is the grade of the last student admitted to the program. While in some fields this grade can be very high, this is not usually the case in tourism.

On the other hand, the criterion of mastery of Spanish is decisive because a B2 level will be required. However, this is consistent with a project of this type. What could be more normal than asking you to speak Spanish to study in Spain?
